Privacy policy

Last updated: 19 September 2026

This policy explains what information MoneyInsider (moneyinsider.co) collects when you use the site, why, who else is involved, and the choices you have. We have tried to describe what the site actually does rather than use generic wording.

What we collect

  • Hosting logs. The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes each request (including your IP address and basic browser details) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
  • Your preferences, stored only in your browser. Your cookie choice, light/dark theme, whether you collapsed the table of contents, notification preferences, and whether you dismissed a prompt. These use your browser's local storage and are not sent to us.
  • Images and video. Images are delivered by the ImageKit CDN, so your browser contacts ImageKit's servers (which see your IP address) to load them. Videos load from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you press play.
  • Push notification script. A script from Webpushr loads on every page so the "enable notifications" button works. Loading it does not subscribe you, but as with any third-party script, Webpushr can see standard request details such as your IP address and browser type.

Only if you accept cookies

  • Google Analytics 4. Loaded only after you accept. Google sets cookies and collects usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser type.
  • Our own reading and engagement measurement. We set a first-party cookie called mi_sid (a random ID, valid for up to two years) and record what you do on the site: pages and articles viewed, how far you scroll, calculator use, and clicks on affiliate links. Alongside it we store your country (from Cloudflare), device type, browser and operating system, the campaign tags in the link you arrived from (such as utm_source) or the external site that referred you, and the topics of the articles you read most. This is stored in our own Cloudflare database. It contains no name or email address.
  • Local counters. To tailor notification topics and measure which campaigns work, we keep a few counters in your browser (articles read, topics read, and how you arrived).
  • Advertising cookies, once we show ads. See "Advertising" below.

If you turn on push notifications

Clicking an "enable notifications" button triggers your browser's own permission prompt. If you allow it, Webpushr, our notification provider, receives the technical subscription details your browser generates, plus the two or three topics you read most so we can send relevant notifications. We can't identify you by name from this. You can stop notifications at any time in your browser's site settings for moneyinsider.co.

If you email us

We use your email address and message only to reply to you.

We do not currently collect email addresses through a signup form on the site. If we add a newsletter, we will update this policy first.

We show a consent banner on your first visit. Analytics, our engagement measurement, and advertising run only after you accept. You can change your mind at any time using Cookie settings in the footer of any page, which clears your saved choice and asks you again. You can also clear cookies and site data for moneyinsider.co in your browser.

Advertising and affiliate partners

We do not currently show ads. We intend to use Google AdSense. When ads are enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Ad scripts load only after you accept cookies. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or at aboutads.info/choices, and learn how Google handles data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Some links on the site are affiliate links. If you click through, the partner's own site and privacy policy apply from that point. See our affiliate disclosure.

How we use your information

To run and improve the site, understand which content is useful, measure which of our promotional links work, send notifications you have asked for, and reply to messages. We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

The mi_sid cookie lasts up to two years. We do not yet delete engagement records on an automatic schedule; we keep them until you ask us to remove them or we clear out old records. Clearing your cookies stops new activity from being linked to the same browser.

Where your data is processed

Our providers (Cloudflare, Google, Webpushr, and ImageKit) may process data on servers outside India, including in the United States.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, or to withdraw consent, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act and the EU/UK GDPR. To make a request, contact us. You can withdraw cookie consent at any time using Cookie settings in the footer.

Children

The site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
